KINO Developers Impress With Unconventional UI

In the past, I have been particularly hard on KINO and its choice of UI schemes. However, one thing I really appreciate is despite KDENLive 0.4 and 0.5/0.6 crashes and other mindless anomalies, it works.

UI Means Unlearning Everything You Know. I will go to down in history saying that the way KINO implements interacting with editing, effects and other functions is extremely confusing when you are used to traditional editors. For a beginner, I can see how this type of layout might appeal to them. And for power users, who are used to a more common UI, it means a bit of doing and redoing.

At the end of the day, though, I'm truly impressed with the latest release of KINO with its excellent stability, and just as importantly, its ability to encode video into something besides OGG and MPEG-based formats.
