Now, Linux enthusiast Jono Bacon and a team of writers have come out with a book to get the beginner started with Ubuntu. The second edition of The Official Ubuntu Book is a complete guide to using a system running Ubuntu Linux.
Chapter one starts with some explanation of where Ubuntu came from, what the Ubuntu philosophy is and goes on to talk some of the variants of Ubuntu, like Kubuntu and Edubuntu, and what they're used for. Finished with the preliminaries, we move right on to chapter two, which covers the ins and outs of installation. Since the book is aimed at the beginner, the explanations are a bit on the basic side, but Ubuntu is known for its versatility, so Ubuntu can be easy for beginners without being too watered-down for experts.
