Firstly, an introduction so you'll know what this is about:
I've recently came across a very interesting Banshee extension which I'm sure many of you will find to be useful.
The extension is called Banshee Telepathy Extension and you can use it to share or stream music through Empathy instant messaging client with your contacts (Jabber (including GTalk) only) through a p2p protocol.
Tixati is a free, simple, and easy to use P2P client that is compatible with the BitTorrent protocol and also supports magnet links. I probably wouldn't have read about it if it didn't work on Linux, but that made me take a closer look and so I got to enjoy Tixati.
A peer-to-peer (P2P) computer network utilizes varied connectivity linking participants in a set of connections and the collective bandwidth of network members rather than the usual centralized resources where a fairly low number of servers provide the core value to a service or application. Peer-to-peer networks are usually used for connecting nodes via largely improvised connections.
The only real exchange between peers in a traditional peer-to-peer network is limited to the files being transferred. Tribler is a new P2P network that's introducing social networking concepts to facilitate better interactions between users. Using new algorithms and protocols, Tribler users will also be able to cash in on their generous uploads for faster downloads.
