G'MIC (GREYC's Magic Image Converter) is a tool that comes with a lot (more then 190) of pre-defined image filters and effects for GIMP and is available for Window, Linux and Mac OSX.
2.6.x is the stable GIMP branch in which there will be no new features, only bug fixes. The latest version of this stable GIMP branch is 2.6.11 which has been released yesterday
The GIMP versions 2.6.9 and 2.6.10 were released a few days ago.
For those who don't know gimp-plugin-registry yet, it is a collection of scripts and plugins for The GIMP. The name is based on the webpage GIMP Plugin Registry, where most (new) plugins and scripts are listed. So far the package ships with 170 scripts/plugins.
