A video demonstrating a new set of animations on Ubuntu Touch has been posted online.

In the 1.17 minute clip, Ubuntu designers showcase a range of visual effects used in ‘core movements’ on Touch. These include animations when switching between applications, unlocking the screen, and pressing buttons.

Tizen, the open-source Linux software platform aiming to power everything from smartphones to smart TVs, is seemingly coming to laptops.

Gnome 3.8 introduced a bundle of nifty changes like new applications for Weather, Clock, Documents and Note Taking, improved search in the Activites, Privacy Settings and so on.

In Ubuntu 13.04, the top Unity panel shadow is displayed on top of full-screen videos / windows. The bug has been fixed a while back but it hasn't landed in Ubuntu 13.04 yet so here are two fixes / workarounds you can use until then.

Google developers have today shown off Ubuntu running on …Google Glass.

It’s 5 months away from release, but we already know most of the new features planned for Unity in Ubuntu 13.10.
